What does a Ken Griffey Jr autograph cost?
The entry point is around a hundred and seventy-five dollars, higher than most living signers here, and the market runs a very long way above it. The spread is dominated by a handful of scarce serial-numbered cards, so the difference between the cheapest and the dearest is about which card rather than whose signature.
What of his gets signed most often?
Cards, at around two thirds of everything tracked, then balls. That concentration is typical of a player whose career coincided with the rise of the signed insert card in the 1990s.
Why is his market more graded than most?
About a third of his certified items carry a numeric autograph grade, against under a tenth for the older signers here. He is the earliest signer on this page whose material came substantially through manufacturer signings, and cards signed that way are submitted for grading as a matter of routine.
Signatures are reproduced more often than most buyers realise, by outright forgery and also by machines and assistants signing on somebody’s behalf. Every item on this page has been examined by PSA/DNA, JSA, Beckett, SGC or CGC, and this index carries nothing else. That is a deliberate restriction, and the investigation that created the modern authentication industry is worth reading, along with what a certificate actually claims.
