What does a Nikola Jokic autograph cost?
The results recorded here run from a couple of hundred dollars to just under seventeen thousand, a spread of about seventy times. Every one is a signed card, which is the shape of a current player's market: the signature arrives through card manufacturers and almost nowhere else, so the range you see is really a range of card products rather than of signatures.
Why does a card numbered one of one sell for less than one numbered one of five?
Because the print run is not what sets the price, and this page has an unusually clean example. A 2018 Flawless card numbered 1/1, unique by definition, sold for eight hundred and ten dollars. A 2015 National Treasures rookie autograph numbered 1/5 sold for sixteen thousand eight hundred. The scarcer card made five per cent of what the commoner one did. Serial numbering is a genuine fact about a card, but on its own it settles very little.
What actually drives the price then?
The year and the product. His 2015 rookie-season cards average close to five times what everything issued later averages here, and the two dearest results are both National Treasures rookie autographs, which is the flagship product of that year. A collector chasing a Jokic autograph is generally chasing a rookie-year card from a premium set, and a unique parallel from a fourth-season release does not substitute for it however few were made. The autograph grade does not order the prices either: the Auto 10s here span thirty-one times and the Auto 9s span seventy.
Signatures are reproduced more often than most buyers realise, by outright forgery and also by machines and assistants signing on somebody’s behalf. Every item on this page has been examined by PSA/DNA, JSA, Beckett, SGC or CGC, and this index carries nothing else. That is a deliberate restriction, and the investigation that created the modern authentication industry is worth reading, along with what a certificate actually claims.
